SERVICES
Dispatch and 911 PSAP / Call Intake
Certified Communication Officers and Emergency Medical Dispatchers work 24/7 to answer 911 calls and dispatch the appropriate resources to the scene of an emergency. We currently dispatch for Station 16, Station 17, Station 18, Station 22, and WDC in Cape May County.
Emergency Medical Services
We are EMS providers for Dennis Township, The Borough of Woodbine and the Southern Section of Maurice River Township which includes the towns of Dorchester, Leesburg, Heislerville and Delmont. This results in a coverage area of approximately 110 square miles. Last year we responded to over 2,200 911 calls with an average response time that was less than 5 minutes. We were able to accomplish this by dispatching our ambulances from our 2 permanent stations. Our primary station is Squad 22-1 which is located at 138 Washington Street in Belleplain. Our substation is Squad 22-2 which is located at 595 Dennisville Road in South Dennisville. Each station is manned 24/7 with at least one ambulance that is staffed with 2 EMTs.
Each ambulance is also equipped with a GPS locator that allows the dispatchers to know the location of each ambulance in real time. This results in the closest Ambulance being sent to the 911 call and on many occasions last year we had responses that were under 1 minute.
Non-Emergent Ambulance Transports
We also provide non-emergent ambulance transports for private patients, Hospice Services, Aero-medical Services, Hospitals, Extended Care and Rehabilitation Facilities in the Tri-County area. Last year we performed nearly 8,000 non-emergent ambulance transports. While our transport ambulances are not engaged in a transport they are utilized for 911 calls and are strategically placed throughout our coverage area.
Mobility Assistance Transports
Patients that are stable but wheelchair bound or who just require special assistance during transport are picked up in a wheelchair van staffed with state certified Mobility Assistance Vehicle Technicians and are provided with door to door servicing.
Specialty Care Transports
Specialty Care Transports are staffed with 1 Registered Nurse and 2 EMT-B and provide care to critically ill and unstable patients that require transport to a facility with a higher level of care.
